Kiva – Genealogists for Families project
Empower people around the world with a $25 loan.
I was honoured to be asked to join Genealogists for Families project through Kiva, an organization that makes loans to people in low income countries.
We have so much and I consider this one small way to help others less fortunate. I wish to thank two Australian genealogy friends for alerting me to Kiva – Carole for the inspiration and Judy for organizing the Genealogists for Families project.
Loans are $25 and are paid back. I have made two loans already – both to women who needed loans to expand their small business – one in fishing and the other one in agriculture.
Several of my friends have been providing loans through this organization and have had positive experiences. I feel good about this project. I plan to keep re-loaning the amount when the funds are paid back. It was fun finding the individuals I wanted to sponsor.
Judy shares the inspiration for the project here.
It is simple to get involved.
- Register with Kiva (it opens in a new window).
- Then go to our team page and click ‘Join’. (Do this before you make a loan.)
If you do not have a spare $25 just yet, you can register with Kiva and join our team now, and when you do make a loan it will be automatically linked to the team’s efforts.
I’m extending an invitation to all of my friends and families. Please join our team and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
